Chiropractic Patient Journey
at St. James Chiropractic and Wellness Centre
First Visit
45 minutes
Before your appointment you’ll receive your registration and health history forms via our secure clinical software. A link will be included in your confirmation email. Please complete these forms ahead of your visit.
Upon arrival at the clinic a member of our reception team will greet you.
Your chiropractor will then meet you to discuss your health concerns, personal wellness goals, and expectations from chiropractic care. They will take a detailed health history, considering not only your current condition but also any past injuries or traumas, even those from years ago. Some of the questions you will be asked may not seem important, but they will help your chiropractor to establish an overall picture of your health and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition.
Next, a physical examination will be carried out to evaluate your musculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles and joints). Your chiropractor may do things such as measure your blood pressure and examine your abdomen to help understand the root cause of your concern. Based on this, your chiropractor will share their findings, discuss recommendations and present a personalised care plan in a brief review of findings. Depending on your case you may receive chiropractic care at your first visit along with tailored aftercare advice.
Please wear clothing that allows your chiropractor to easily examine the area you are concerned about. You may be asked to undress slightly to allow for appropriate assessment. You might like to bring a pair of shorts or vest top to wear. Gowns are available if preferred.
If your second appointment has not already been schedule, our front desk team will schedule your next appointment.
Second Visit
15 – 30 minutes
During your second visit your chiropractor will provide a detailed review of findings from your initial consultation, suggest a personalised care plan which will set out what you can expect when receiving chiropractic care, associated costs, and your role in fostering a successful healing and recovery process through exercise and lifestyle changes.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions before deciding whether or not to start/continue with treatment to begin your journey to wellness.
In order to book times most convenient for you, our front desk team will schedule your next appointments.
Regular Visits
15 minutes
Your body will often require time to heal, and care to correct the underlying issue. Much like when starting an exercise plan at the gym, regular visits are needed to create change. Each chiropractic visit at St James Chiropractic and Wellness Centre builds on the last supporting steady progress in your care.
Follow up sessions are shorter than the initial consultation and second visit, however we ensure each patient receives the time and attention needed. Should you wish to discuss and aspect of your health in more details simply let your chiropractor know and they’ll be happy to schedule it for your next visit (we can offer longer appointments if necessary).
We use a wide variety of techniques including, adjustments, massage and mobilisation to name a few. We will also provide guidance on rehabilitation exercises, lifestyle changes and dietary/nutritional recommendations that may support your recovery. Your active participation plays a key role in your progress, so we encourage you to follow any advice and instructions thoroughly. At certain stages we may recommend additional therapies such as physiotherapy, massage or Pilates to further enhance your results.
Throughout any course of treatment your progress will be monitored to help us see if we need to change anything in the plan. If we cannot help at any stage, we will ensure you are referred to the best person who can help you.
Most patients who have experienced how a well functioning body feels, continue with chiropractic as part of their lifestyle toolkit.
