Pilates Explained

The focus of Pilates is correct movement, quality, not quantity, core stabilization and postural correction.
Many people today have poor posture, leading to the spine becoming curved and weakened. This curvature will throw the spine out of natural alignment, reducing flexibility and causing pain. The Pilates approach improves flexibility, corrects postural dysfunctions, and increases core strength and stability.

Pilates is not only a form of safe exercise, but also a great self-management technique for reducing pain and improving the performance of any task. There are key principles within Pilates that once grasped will make huge differences when used in any movement or fitness setting, as well as with normal daily functions. Our goal at St. James Chiropractic and Wellness Centre is to help all clients rediscover the joy of movement and what that can do for their overall mental, emotional and physical health.

What The 6-Week Course Includes

An initial 1:1 where you will be assessed for any individual needs. The key principles of Pilates will be explained and demonstrated to enable you to commence the course safely and with confidence.

You will receive a video recording after this session with these principles explained, so you can practice in the comfort of your own home. There will then be a 6-week course with one lesson each week, enabling you to slowly build on your knowledge and fitness at a rate that is comfortable for you.

At the end of the course, each participant will receive an additional video covering the key exercises required to maintain what you have learnt during the course.

Please note: Classes will have a maximum of 6 participants and will be physio led, enabling them to be tailored for specific needs.

Firstly I just wanted to say how wonderful Nicky is in the Pilates course. Her knowledge is amazing and her enthusiasm is infectious. I have never felt so comfortable in a class before and I have been to a few. It took me a while to sign up to the class and I have to say it has been enlightening and I am so glad I did. She made everyone feel so comfortable and in the last class I almost cried as I can feel the good the course is doing. So on that note please sign me up for the online classes.

I also see Nicky for Physio as do my family and she certainly has a knack of making you feel welcome, safe and cared for. She is so good with my girls and has been a massive part of my rehabilitation journey. I honestly do not know what I would have done without her. I often joke she is an angel in disguise. Marie
